If you don't know about this diversely talented young black woman. Your definitely missing out, Alyisa Harris, is a new light and remote energy in the spoken word realm of poetry. Her creative expression is simply put beyond "Bananas"!! She can turn you up to new heights and slam you down with poetic truths of the darkest parts of your soul. Then pull you out again into the light and place you back on solid ground to cope with what has been left behind. Here is a little more about her background:

Currently a graduate student at Yale University pursuing a PhD in linguistics , she studies semantic change and aspectual shift in African American English and the genetic relationships between Semitic language. Though intrigued by the scientific study of language as a linguist, as a poet she uses it as a creative probe to explore the emotional, spiritual, and relational realms of the human experience. She also appeared on the HBO Documentary Russell Simmons Presents: Brave New Voices in 2009. Her poems have garnished well over 2 million views on YouTube and Alysia is currently curating a blog entitled Not Dalton’s Kids, which encourages and compiles creative submissions (poems, sculptures, paintings, drawings, photographs, songs, short stories, criticism) on the topic of racism and racial identity. Alysia is most passionate about God, love, and poetry. Her biggest loves in life are spontaneous group dance sessions, Hemingway, and clean endings. When not studying or writing, Alysia can be found dancing, Facebook stalking, crying over heartbreak, talking about theology, eating CLIF bars and hanging out in the deserts of the Middle East. She hopes in the future, after obtaining her PhD in linguistics, to get an MFA in creative writing and move to the North Africa to start a number creative writing programs in the region.http://www.last.fm/music/Alysia+Harris/+wiki

Define Your Sound: Soul Music

The very talented Chrisette Michele, was a guest artist on the Steve Harvey Morning Show on July 9, 2013. Everyone on the morning show was completely floored by her astonishing voice. As well as, her back ground singers and her acoustic guitarist was bagging out song after song. It was a collective master piece of musical majesty embodying jazz, r&b, and neo- soul. If you want the best music coming from any device you have that can play a tune. Download or buy her new album entitled "Better". Trust me you can't get any better than this.
